Hinckley & Bosworth Medical Alliance, working with local GP practices, is piloting a new weekend NHS Health Check service designed to make preventative healthcare more accessible for local people.

We know that attending appointments during the working week can be difficult because of work, caring responsibilities, or other commitments. By offering NHS Health Checks at weekends, we hope to provide a more convenient option for patients to access this important service.

The pilot will offer eligible patients a free NHS Health Check and blood test, helping to identify early signs of conditions such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and type 2 diabetes.

How the Pilot Will Work

Taking part is simple. Eligible patients will first be invited to complete a short online registration form to register their interest.

Once we have received enough applications, selected participants will receive a text message containing a booking link to arrange their appointment. Appointments will take place on Saturday 5 September at Newbold Verdon Medical Centre, last around 20 minutes, and include a free NHS Health Check and blood test.

Following the appointment, the results will be reviewed by a clinician. Where any follow-up is needed, patients will be contacted and supported with the appropriate next steps.

As this is a pilot, participants will also be invited to complete a short feedback survey after their appointment. This will help us understand their experience, identify any improvements that could be made, and assess whether offering NHS Health Checks at weekends makes the service more accessible for local people.

By involving patients from the outset, we hope to develop a convenient and accessible service that can be rolled out more widely across Hinckley & Bosworth in the future.
